In a moistened form this subsrate is mouldable and very stable, making it a very natural substrate for burrowers.  Through evaporation of the water in the mixture the sand hardens and holds its form well making it perfect for holding burrows safely.  Termite sand is also suitable for desert and savanha dwelling burrowing rodents.
